National Noodle Day: Three Scrumptious Stir Fries

6th October - National Noodle Day (of course!). And what better, more fun way to use them than in a stir fry - whilst practicing your Chinese-style cooking?

To celebrate them in their infinite tastiness, here are three scrumptious stir fries for you to try out.

Each one serves two - so get stuck in with a friend or family member!

Chicken noodle stir fry

Celebrate National Noodle Day with a protein kick.

  • Serves 2
  • Prep time: 5 minutes, Cook time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 Vegetable stir fry pack
  • 2 Heritage chicken breasts, sliced thinly
  • Splash of Heritage Olive Oil
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 2 nests egg or rice noodles, cooked according to packet instructions

Method:

Heat the oil in a large frying pan or wok and fry the garlic and chicken, until browned all over.

Add the stir fry pack to the pan and mix for 2-3 minutes.

Stir in the soy sauce.

Continue to stir-fry over a medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.

5. Add in the cooked noodles and stir to combine.

Sticky pork stir fry

Whip out the soy sauce for this bad boy that’s ready in a total of only 25 minutes: there’s no better way to show off your sublime Chinese cooking!

  • Serves 2
  • Prep time: 15 minutes, Cook time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 Vegetable stir fry pack
  • 400g Chopped pork loin
  • Splash of Heritage Olive Oil
  • 4 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Heritage Peanut butter
  • 1 tbsp Heritage Clear Honey
  • 2 tsp White wine vinegar
  • 1 Crushed clove of garlic
  • 1 tsp Tabasco sauce
  •  Pinch of Heritage pepper
  • Noodles or rice, cooked according to the packet instructions

Method:

  1. Add all the ingredients apart from the stir fry pack to a bowl and whisk together
  2. very well.
  3. Pop in the pork, making sure it is all coated in the hoisin sauce and leave to one side for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Heat some oil in a large pan or wok and cook the meat until browned.
  5. Add the stir fry pack with one tablespoon of water.
  6. Cook for two minutes until the veg softens slightly.
  7. Serve with noodles or rice.

Prawn stir fry

Apart from the delectable prawns, there’s nothing fishy about this dish. A solid stir fry alternative.

  • Serves 2
  • Prep time: 5 minutes; Cook time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 Oriental stir fry pack
  • 250g cooked, peeled prawns
  • Splash of Heritage Olive Oil
  • 1 tbsp Tomato puree
  • 2 tbsp reduced-fat soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Sweet chilli sauce
  • 1 tbsp Heritage Clear Honey
  • 1 nest egg or rice noodles, cooked according to packet instructions

Method:

  1. Heat the oil in a large frying pan and fry the vegetables for 4-5 minutes.
  2. Blend the tomato puree with the soy, chilli sauce and honey and stir into the vegetables with the prawns. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Gently stir in the noodles and serve.
