As we celebrate raising £20 million, we’re spotlighting 20 stories of extraordinary community action from our Co-op Wholesale partners.

Today’s story is all about Nisa Wigan, run by brothers Hepesh and Mitesh, whose commitment to their community goes far beyond monetary donations.

The pair fully embrace Making a Difference Locally, making the most of every opportunity to secure funding for local good causes through MADL, additional funding and community initiatives. But what makes their story special is that they don't stop there.

When a recent heatwave hit, Hepesh and Mitesh stepped in to provide free bottles of water to local school children, helping young people stay safe and hydrated during soaring temperatures.

They've also supported Ince CE Primary & Nursery School by donating snacks and drinks for the school's upcoming Prom, helping ensure pupils can celebrate and create lasting memories together.

And their latest initiative is already becoming a firm favourite with local families. Through Free Fruit Friday, local school children can visit the store each week and receive free fruit, encouraging healthy eating while providing a simple act of kindness that benefits families across the community.

Whether it's providing funding through MADL, supporting local schools, promoting healthier lifestyles or responding to community needs when they arise, Hepesh and Mitesh demonstrate what it truly means to be at the heart of the community.
