Nisa Local Makes a Difference for Cliffdale Primary Academy

The Nisa Local store on Copnor Road in Portsmouth has donated £300 to Cliffdale Primary Academy through Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally charity, to fund new supplies and equipment for the school.

This donation is the second made by the store through the charity following a previous donation  to Saint Nicholas Church, made possible thanks to the support of local shoppers, purchasing selected products in store.

Cliffdale Primary Academy are a school for 116 pupils aged 4-11 years who have complex learning difficulties and many of whom have autism. Cliffdale is a member of the Solent Academies Trust, a partnership of schools including Mary Rose Academy and Redwood Park Academy. Together They strive to ensure that pupils experience the very best education possible and achieve great things.

Michelle Ibbotson, Finance Manager at Solent Academies Trust, said of the donation: “The money that Nisa Local donated will be used to buy specialist equipment that supports the delivery of the therapy programmes, such as balance bikes, scooters, trampets and scooter boards.”

Making a Difference Locally is a charity established to support local communities, allowing Nisa-affiliated retailers to support local causes that matter to them with charitable donations. Every time a customer purchases an item as part of the Making a Difference Locally scheme, a proportion of the cost is added to the store’s charity fund, which goes on to be distributed to local causes and organisations.

Mr Gurdip Sandhu and Mrs Prabhjot Sandhu owners of the  Nisa Local, added: “Our customers make this possible through their support of our Making a Difference Locally products and we are proud to be able to support worthy local causes such as this.

“We chose this particular school because it is local to us. All the staff come into our shop to do their shopping, so it’s great to be able to give something back to the school in this way. Cliffdale Primary Academy  supports local children with more complex needs and so it’s especially rewarding to be able to do something to help these children.”
