Nisa’s charity raises £11m for local communities

Nisa’s registered charity, Making a Difference Locally, has raised over £11m for local communities to date, it was announced today.

As of the first week of November, more than £11m had been raised since the charity’s formation in 2008, boosted by changes made earlier this year to the way the charity is funded.

Back in January, MADL introduced a new funding model whereby all Co-op own label products sold in Nisa stores would carry a 0.6% donation to MADL, in addition to the existing contribution from all Heritage own label products and money raised via MADL collecting tins – raising further funds for retailers to donate locally.

Nisa partners have supported local causes with almost 12,000 donations to date, with recipients ranging from youth sports teams and community groups to hospices and health and wellbeing charities, to name a few.

We are delighted that our retailers and their customers have helped to raise more than £11m

Nisa’s Head of Charity, Kate Carroll, said: “We are delighted that our retailers and their customers have helped to raise more than £11m over the last 11 years for thousands of very deserving charities and good causes.

“We know that even relatively small donations can make a huge difference to local charities and communities, particularly in terms of social impact, and we look forward to providing even more support over the years to come.”
