Scotter and Scotton Pride receives £600 boost from Making a Difference Locally
Making a Difference Locally (MADL) has donated £600 to support this year’s Scotter and Scotton Pride, helping to bring the community together for a vibrant celebration of inclusivity and unity.
The funding was made possible through MADL’s Pride Pot initiative and facilitated by Nisa Local on High Street, Scotter.
Held on 15th June, the event was a joyful and emotional day for many, filled with music, entertainment, and a powerful sense of togetherness.
Local organiser Sharon reflected on the occasion: “What a wonderful event Sunday was to see everyone coming together. There was a great vibe and lots of smiley faces. The entertainment was fabulous and catered for everyone’s needs. I was brought to tears watching the Starlight Arts group signing their Makaton.”
Gurinder Nijjar, store manager of Nisa Local Scotter, said the store was proud to play a part in supporting such a meaningful day.
“We’re proud to support events like Scotter and Scotton Pride that celebrate diversity and bring people together. Inclusivity is at the heart of our community, and it’s an honour to contribute to such an important cause.”
Kate Carroll, Social Values Lead at Co-op Wholesale, added: “It’s inspiring to see local communities embracing Pride and creating safe, joyful spaces for everyone. This donation is a testament to the power of local partnerships and the importance of standing together in support of equality.”
The impact of the day was keenly felt by those in attendance. Local participant Haisely Jane shared her personal reflections:
“What a beautiful Pride! It was such a balm to the heart to see so many local LGBT+ folk after feeling so isolated growing up. So much pride, joy, music, and a reminder of hope!”
The Pride Pot is open to all Nisa retailers throughout the full year, enabling them to apply for funding for local LGBTQ+ events and initiatives. It's one of many ways Co-op Wholesale is reinforcing their commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in every community retailers serve.
