A Milestone night for Nisa retailer Tom McAvoy at the Neighbourhood Retailer Awards
Nisa retailer Tom McAvoy enjoyed an evening to remember last week with his County Down store Milestone Rathfriland scooping four awards at the 2023 Northern Ireland Neighbourhood Retailer Awards.
Milestone took home the Neighbourhood Store of the Year Category 4, Food to Go Store of the Year and the coveted Northern Ireland Retailer of the Year 2023 title – the fourth time the store has gained such recognition.
The awards, held at the Crowne Plaza in Belfast, also honoured Tom McAvoy with its prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. Owner and director of the Milestone, Tom is a well-known and highly respected name right across Northern Ireland and has been a Nisa customer for over 10 years.
A deserving winner, the 550-strong audience took to their feet, giving Tom a standing ovation as he received his award on stage.
There was further success for Nisa on the evening with Hughes Foodhall Camlough named Off Licence of the Year.
Now in their 26th year, the Neighbourhood Retailer Awards are the annual showcase of industry excellence and hundreds of the Northern Ireland’s leading retailers gathered in the ballroom, waiting with anticipation to find out this year’s winners.
Hosted by Donna Traynor, the winning stores in 19 categories were announced over the course of the gala awards evening, appearing on stage to collect their awards.
Victoria Lockie, Head of Retail at Nisa, said: “Many congratulations to Tom and his fantastic store Milestone Rathfriland. The lifetime achievement award is very much deserved and to win the Retailer of the Year award for a fourth time is a special accomplishment. Well done also to Hughes Foodhall Camlough on being named Off Licence of the Year – a superb evening for Nisa!”
