Building on Fresh Thinking through Category Talks

Nisa Retail’s independent partners have been given the tools for success through the delivery of a series of Category Talks at the 2021 Nisa Expo, held online last week.

This year the sessions were hosted jointly by the commercial teams at Nisa and Co-op alongside representatives from suppliers, ensuring the very best knowledge and industry insights were shared.

Taking place on the main stage, across the two days, retailers were offered valuable input on five key categories; Food to Go, Drinks, Produce and Fruit, Co-op Own-Brand, and Meals.

The talks shared insights, latest trends, advice on how to grow sales, tips on merchandising in store, maximising range and tailoring to store demographic, how to encourage customers to give new products a try as well as details on NPDs becoming available this autumn and more.

Events manager at Nisa, Jenny Potts, said: “Last year the Category Talks were a big success with those attending taking away some great insights that they were able to use in their own stores."

“We’ve developed the talks further this year with the inclusion of suppliers in the Q+A sessions meaning retailers can ask the really pressing questions to those at the very heart of the business.”

Victoria Lockie, Head of Retail at Nisa, said: “It’s more important than ever that we support our partners and sharing this sort of invaluable input from our buyers and suppliers will give them some real food for thought and ideas they can bring to life in their own businesses and drive sales."

“Using the Nisa Expo virtual platform is a great way to share so much information and help Nisa partners to understand the latest trends and how they can respond to them in store.”

The category talks will be available on demand for Nisa partners for 30 days after the Nisa Expo event closes.
