Nisa continues successful recruitment drive in 2021

  • 401 new stores signed up this year
  • Multi-site key accounts and wholesale partners have seen significant growth in numbers
  • Builds on the excellent growth achieved in 2020

Nisa Retail Limited, the delivered wholesale and convenience retail specialist, is pleased to report further strong store recruitment numbers, with 401 stores signed up to Nisa in the 35 weeks to September 2021. This follows a record 2020 where, despite the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, 624 stores joined the business over the full year. June was the strongest month for store recruitment, followed by March and January respectively, while the Greater London region saw the most sign ups geographically.

The number of large, multi-site key accounts recruited in 2021 has seen sustained growth with store numbers and sales both up on 2020 figures for the same period. And these partners, including TOUT’S, who were named Large Convenience Store of the Year at the Convenience Store Awards since joining, Ascona Group and Amacor have continued to expand their businesses in a difficult environment with the support of Nisa. This is testament to Nisa’s fresh thinking approach to partner support, competitive prices and access to the award-winning Co-op own brand range.

Key to the successful recruitment is Nisa’s ability to serve a range of independent operators, both retail and wholesale, as well as developing new store formats including Nisa Express which provides a dedicated fascia option and store format for smaller convenience and forecourt sites. Of the 401 new stores this year, 128 converted to Nisa’s latest Evolution format.

Nisa is focused on strengthening its partner proposition to deliver the very best the market has to offer. The recruitment drive has also been supported by investments in price and distribution; earlier this year, Nisa announced £2 million of price reductions on own brand and branded items, enabling partners to remain competitive and supporting sales margins.

Alongside this, significant investment in Nisa’s logistics and delivery network was pledged as part of a new commitment to being the number one distribution partner of choice for independent retailers.

Nisa’s standing in the sector is demonstrated through its consistent industry recognition, recently awarded the accolades of Best Symbol/Franchise Group at the Retail Industry Awards for the second year running and Shoppers Favourite Forecourt Fascia and Shoppers’ Favourite Convenience Fascia for BWS at the Convenience Store Awards.

Steve Leach, Sales Director at Nisa, said:

Following a record year for recruitment in 2020, we are pleased to be continuing this momentum this year with 401 new partner stores on board. The sustained growth in new partners and stores is testament not only to the brilliant team at Nisa, who have gone above and beyond during the past 18 months in continually challenging circumstances, but to the strength of Nisa’s proposition for independent retailers. This is where we strike the balance between recruitment and the support of existing partners, through our fresh thinking approach to partner support, competitive pricing and an unrivalled own brand range.
