Nisa retailers support global water initiative to the tune of half a million pounds

Nisa’s independent retailers have together raised more than half a million pounds for a charity that helps to fund clean water projects.

On World Water Day (Monday 22nd March), it has been revealed that since Nisa became part of the Co-op group in 2018, partners have raised a total of £514,000 for The One Foundation, contributing to the global initiative investing in clean water, sanitation and hygiene around the world.

For every litre of any still, sparkling or flavoured Co-op own brand water sold, 3p goes to the One Foundation.

For Nisa partners, this means that each time they order Co-op water to stock in their stores, they are supporting the initiative.

Danielle Sylvester, Nisa’s wholesale category controller said: “Simply by choosing to stock Co-op water in their stores, Nisa partners are able to make a valuable contribution to this brilliant charity. It’s another great way for them to demonstrate how, working with their communities, they can help to make a difference, not just locally but much further afield.

“Buying Co-op water can help change millions of lives and we’re proud that Nisa partners are supporting this through their purchasing.”

Working in partnership with The One Foundation, Co-op has spent the last 12 years investing in clean water, sanitation and hygiene projects around the world. They are also pioneering partners for Water Unite, and now, every bottle of Co-op water purchased helps to support clean water projects and changes lives around the world.

Overall, Co-op water sales have raised more than £10 million to date for clean water projects and have assisted The One Foundation in many projects including supporting programmes in Fairtrade cocoa, sugar, tea and flower growing communities, providing water access to three humanitarian crises in 2018 alone and building rainwater harvesting systems and safe toilets in schools for over 8,000 children.
