Same day local doorstep delivery service success
An independently run convenience store in Northampton is providing its customers with a new lifeline delivery service that promises to be at the door on day of order, and in most cases within an hour of the order being placed.
The service, launched by Nisa Local Whitehills in November last year via the Appy Shop mobile app, is proving a bit hit with shoppers, particularly with the current lockdown restrictions and they have just made their 1,000th delivery, with orders growing to around 200 every week.
Store owner Alex Kapadia said: “We have seen the service grow very quickly since its launch and lockdown 3.0 has prompted another surge of interest.
“Customers might be struggling to get a delivery slot with the big four supermarkets, but they can order from us and can get same day delivery, within about an hour of placing their order.”
The store delivers to a wide range of customers including those who, for health reasons, are limited in their ability to shop for essential groceries. While others using the service simply don’t want the inconvenience of having to go out for their shopping.
Alex said: “A good number of our customers are now taking regular deliveries, some are actually unable to get out to the shop because they may be shielding or vulnerable and are using us for everything they need, and then there are some who might want a pizza and wine for tonight but don’t fancy going out.
“We are also seeing quite a lot of home-schooling parents who don’t have time to disrupt the day by going to the shop and so are ordering a delivery instead.”
We believe the service rivals any the major supermarkets can offer
The service has been promoted on leaflets delivered around the local area as well as via social media and the uptake has grown rapidly.
“Our delivery service is fast as well as personal and we cover a good radius and offer a great range so our customers can depend on us to get just what they need to their door,” said Alex.
“With more than 3,500 products including over 1,000 Co-op products available and deliveries between 11am and 10pm seven days per week to a five-mile radius around the store, we believe the service rivals any the major supermarkets can offer.”
