Taste of the Orient

Nisa is helping retailers to tap into shoppers’ desire for more exotic dishes by running a special Taste of the Orient promotional event.

With the ethnic foods category growing more than six per cent in value terms over the 12 months to April 2018, Nisa is drawing on the trend by offering some competitive deals on key ingredients for home cooking.

Nisa trading controller Ian Redhead said: “We’re seeing more consumers come back from holidays wanting to recreate dishes they’ve eaten or recreate their favourite restaurant dishes at home.

“Once the traditional jars of sauce have been tried, the next step is to try pastes and so on for more authentic flavours.”

Retailers are being supplied with themed POS kits to help create some in-store theatre and offering deals on lines including Blue Dragon egg noodles, Blue Dragon soy sauce and Uncle Ben’s sauce jars – all at £1. Shoppers can team this with Heritage chicken breast fillets (500g for £4) to help create the perfect Chinese meal in the comfort of their own home.

The products are available for retailers to order in now and will be available to shoppers at the end of the month from July 30th until August 19th.

“With shoppers in convenience stores increasingly looking to be inspired while in-store whilst shopping for their evening meal, we’re encouraging our retailers to make sure their offering is appealing. Merchandising out of the standard aisle near fresh meat and vegetables, for example, can increase basket spend.”
